Default engine gone bad

hi guys,

my 2007 engine showing very low compration pressure say average 16 BAR.one of my friend told me to pull down the engine and overhaule it.he said to change rings only will solve the problem and you may get 5 more BARS thats enough for quick start.actually last weak car taking very long to start say 20 minute some time even more.actually m here in srilanka and diesel availabe here having very high sulfure content which demage the cylender liner and piston rings also so my question is what part actually need to solve the problem?if changing rings only solve the problem or i need oversize ring piston and reboaring of block require.what about big end bearing and main bearing need to change or not necassary.btw engine is BUG with JXX tranny mounted and 40000KM on clock.2007 moder year.apperciating any feed back

You have engine problems with 40,000 KM (25,000 Miles)? V6 or V8?

Shazoo, I see no reason for the big end or main bearings to be gone just because the compression is down. It will be simple to check while you have the engine stripped down anyway.
If you are aware the diesel is not right for your Q7 why do you use it or why not change to a petrol version?
BTW Do you have two Q7s? Its just you have reported different Model years on different occasions and conflicting milages.

The compression is not unusually high on the TDI Q7 its just the piezo injectors that run at very high pressures. Are you sure you dont just need injectors replaced?

first thanx for your reply and sorry for any misunderstanding.i repeat it,Q7 2007 BUG 3.0 TDI.JUST you are quite right,i must not buy a Q7 if good diesel not availabe here but one of my friend have BMW 530D with same capacity common rail diesel engine almost 80000 km but no issue with the car or engine neither late starting.he useing same filling station as i do then why my Q7 engine spoiled and why BMW engine not effected by that diesel?JUST i allready changed injectors but no effect, check heater aswell,no trouble code.planing to sale the car after engine repair.JUST how many PPM ratio of sulfure in diesel in UK BTW?

I had a similar problem.

Had ecu and turbo replaced and intake manifold runners on one side replaced too - took them 2 months to figure out

Mine happened around 47000 miles

MERC,i think one or both intake manifold doesnot affect the compression of engine.does it?yes it is true after 35000 miles the link rod between manifold and motor tend to more wear toward manifold side and throw a MIL but practically this doesnot effect the engine performance and late starting issue nor turbo charger lesser the comperation to 17 BAR.about ECU there is no fault code in VAS to replace it so still wondering what is actuall reason for late starting.MERC if your car is fine after replacing those stuff?do check comperation of your engine?
