MMI Not working

Had a similar issue...
My MMI would not come on unless the engine was actually running. Check your battery level (before the MMI powers itself down). Turns out the car has a power save feature if the battery level is not 100%. It switches down all extra electrics to build up charge. Maybe your battery is low? (Lots of short trips in cold weather with all heating etc. on?).
My central locking from the remote disabled itself as well. All is now fine after a long run and the battery is now showing 100% charge. Hopefully, you don't have a faulty battery.
