Default remote's range decrease after bodyshop work

So I just got my wife's Q7 back from the bodyshop after a minor accident (an 84 year old man with MB S430 fell from a 3 story high parking lot and bounced to my Q7 after hitting to the ground). The repair was a replacement of the rear bumper, exhaust and some minor rear quarter body work.

Now, my remote doesn't work when I am only 4-5 feet from the car. I thought the battery was dead, so I grabbed my other remote. The same thing. The remotes do work when you stand very close to the car. What's going on? How would some bodywork mess up my remote operations? The light on the remote just blinks (either fast or slow, depending on whether or not the car is locked).

Help!! I will be calling my dealer tomorrow. I just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced the same problem.

Thanks.

Default sucks to get hit from something from the sky.

this was on the local news a month ago. Talk about the chances being hit from a car falling from the sky.

Default It might be the battery saving measures of the car...

Happened to me when I collected my car, such that the remotes wouldn't work at all. Lights flashed close up but had to use the key for entry. 3 days later and a fully charged battery and all was fine. If your battery is showing 100% though, I would raise questions with dealer. Maybe, it's a theft prevention improvement to remove the effectiveness of scanners?

Default Keyless Access Authorization Antenna Reader Location

This part is located behind the right rear luggage compartment trim panel.

I would suspect something has been dislodged in this area during the body repair. Your dealer should be able to check this out fairly easily.

Hope you luck improves! (althought the MB didn't actually land on top of your Q, so maybe your luck's already good!)

I had the same problem - though not resulting from body technicians knocking the antenna loose. It was the antenna. Bring to dealer and ask them to check the antenna and pull one out of an unsold car in stock if they don't have the part handy.
