Default S-Line Acceleration Delay?

New with this car as can be seen from my other threads. I notice when I depress the accelerator from a stop or even going slow that there is a moments hesitation before the engine kicks in. Many cars ago I had a similar although a bit worse problem and the only way to solve it was to switch to "manual" mode and put it in 1st. Have not tried that here but I have to be honest in saying I recall the same from the test drive (with a different S-Line). Thoughts?

Try driving in S mode. Definitely more responsive in S mode. I would not say it hesitates at all in D mode, but S feels quicker

drive in s mode and either in d or s the vehicle has to learn your driving style... it will adapt to it... if you already have a several thousand miles on it or someone else drove the vehicle before you reset the throttle map/position.

I've noticed a similar lag with the TDI as compared with our other cars. My wife mentioned it too. At first I thought it was a flavor or turbo lag, but then it just seemed to be a different driving style that we would get used to.

Can you be more specific on resetting the throttle map for us new folks? Is that something done at the dealer, via VAGCOM, or something else?

The car has maybe a few hundred miles on it and is my wife's driver. My time with it is mainly weekends. I did drive it off the lot when he had only a few miles on it and had the same experience (which again was the same with a test drive in another S Line).

I am not looking for Vette performance off the line, just for the car not to literally do nothing for a fraction of a second before engaging. I'd hate to have to drive in a different mode with worse gas mileage or to switch around just to get the engine to do anything when I initially hit the gas. It's an odd feeling and if you are trying to make a quick start to get across traffic, as an example, it can be scary.

At my next crack I am going to have to put it in 1st to see what happens. Although it shouldn't be thinking about gears I did see this kind of behavior with an Acura TL a few cars ago. Hope this isn't the same.

I was just looking at your signature line and I had to comment that we too had an '04 MDX which we just traded for this new Q7 (we were cross shopping the newly redesigned '14 MDX).

Mine has a lag, I've thought about getting one of the sprint boosters so the throttle response increases. Anyone have one?

push down the brake hard and hold , floor the accelerator , build up the revs, release the brake, the car will be a rocket of the mark.

Yes I have a sprint booster and IMO it does remove the lag. There are 3 modes LED green= sport, LED red= race & LED off= off.

I normally keep it in Green. It adds no performance it just remaps the throttle signal to the computer.

I have the 2008 4.2 and its my wife and I's first Audi and that lag is definitely something to get used to. I sometimes feel my body lean forward when giving it gas off the line. Try to take it easy off the line but it seems to be hard to do so.
