Default MMI Shortcuts - How To?

I have a few questions about the MMI and the ability to add shortcuts.

1st is that I had a shortcut for the Climate Control "Sync" button (I know you can pinch to sync) in the lower shortcut row, and now it's just gone (see photo). Anyonw know how to get it back?

2nd is I saw a photo somewhere and someone had a shortcut to the steering wheel heater on the top row of shortcuts. I tried to long-press and assign it, but no luck. Does anyone know how to assign the sterring wheel heater to one of the empty "buttons" on the MMI? (I know you can assign the button on the steering wheel, but I use that for the garage door opener).

Lastly, anyone have some other useful shortcuts they store on that top row?

(Please excuse the dirty screen)

Go to the steering wheel heat button press and hold it, then you can select one of the two shortcut locations on either side of the three dots in the middle. However the blank spots may be a glitch, have you tried rebooting the mmi (press and hold the volume/power ****)? What does the obdII scanner say, any error codes?

Thank you, that was helpful. It was not clear to me that when holding the button down that the pop-up was actually to assign those two spots. Since My right side button was assigned to "OFF", it looked like the option was to turn the sterring wheel heat on or OFF. Now I see that you can assign any of the buttons in that AC menu to one of the two slots in the shortcuts. I have mine set now, thank you!

Glad to help. In my MMI, these shortcuts do reset from time to time and revert back to the default settings for some reason.

As a bonus tip, you can pin the CarPlay button to the bar on the left side of the top screen replacing the built in nav button, which makes it much more accessible. From time to time (there seems to be a strange pattern with the MMI), I used to have to dig through the menus just to open the CarPlay app.

Thanks again! I am aware of the moving/pinning different app's to the side of the Nav screen. Android Auto for me, but yes, that makes it so much easier especially since I always use AA and Waze and never OEM Nav.

Yup but those left side shortcuts only last for a short period of time - they will randomly get replaced with Nav or radio multiples. it’s a bug. :/

For me, this one is sticking, but the two on the bottom screen next to the three dots won’t. The MMI is a mess.
