'New' Member - Navarra Blue Q7
Well this was probably the second easiest mod I’ve done after the sunglasses holder. Took <20 mins in the dark.
Managed to scrape up my standard spoiler by reversing too quickly into the garage before the door was fully up. Left some nasty deep gouges. I could have fixed with some filler and touch up, but decided it was a good time to replace with a spoiler that matches my SQ7 rear end. The OEM spoiler is almost $2000 unpainted from Audi, so not doing that. After hunting for ages, and seeing only damaged spoilers for $1000+, I tried looking internationally and stumbled across a blackish one on UK eBay. Wasn’t a great photo but it was a great price, even after shipping (<$300!). I’d just wrap it if it wasn’t the right color or wasn’t perfect.
Finally arrived - not only was it as good as new, it’s Navarra blue… It’s a goddam Christmas miracle! Took me no time to fit last night and it looks great!
Notes -
1) remove upper trunk trim piece by pulling hard. It’s clipped in. There are wires behind for the break light and you’ll also note mine has additional wires tucked in there for the rear camera.
2) 2x T25 screws, one at either end of the spoiler.
3) 5x 10mm nuts along the length that have the bolt fed from the spoiler itself. These are recessed into the body panel. This means you’ll need a long socket with clearance to sit over the bolt protrusion.
4) once all removed, the spoiler is only held on with clips. Close the trunk and pull up and off. It will still be held on by 2 wires
5) open trunk again but catch the spoiler so it doesn’t fall. Follow the wires from the spoiler to their connectors as they don’t go to the same place. You’ll need a sharp point to release the left one. The right one pulls out
6) finally, there are waterproof seal clips where the wires enter the car under the spoiler. Pull these off and pull the whole assembly to free the spoiler from the car
7) it’s dirty, give it a good clean under there
8) reverse the process with the new one!
Hope that’s helpful to someone out there, thrilled with this simple but visually impactful upgrade.
