Default Problems or Problem Free?

Hi all,

So my Q7 is on order, which I'm very excited about, but something that has me a little nervous lately is it seems like there are a LOT more posts of late about people reporting problems with their Q7s.

I'm curious to hear from anybody who cares to reply to this thread, when did you take delivery of your Q7 and is it mostly problem free or are there a bunch of little things (or any major things) that you've had issues with? Either way, are you still happy you bought the Q7?

(I know, I know, it's hard to gauge accurately from forum posts since it's a particular type of person who's going to seek out and get involved in the forums anyway, not necessarily representative of the entire Q7 driving population and so on, but I figured I'd ask)

I have had mine since January 2017 and to date the only issue I really have had was a stitching in the side panel breaking. Audi is replacing the entire side panel under warranty.

The only other weird issue that has just started happening is sometimes instead of an english speed limit sign an international speed limit sign will pop up for a few seconds.

All in all not too bad for a new model vehicle.

My experience with forums is that you get a 10:1 ratio of "problems" to "I love it" so there is strong bias to see problems. Don't get overly concerned with all the problem posts. I'd wager if you asked our membership if they love their Q you'd get a resounding "Yes" this forum is a great way to get answers for problems, hence you'll see a lot of problems. And I think that is a great service! I've had my Premium+ for 6 months is problem free (at least no problems that I couldn't solve with a little research) and I love every time I push the start button!

Just posted on driver seat leather issue on a new thread. Besides that the car is wonderful and no issues at all. Knock on wood.

I think the bulk of "problems" are not really true problems in the sense of the word. More or less some revelations or annoyances that come with any new new model. Definitely nothing like the kind of stuff on the Volvo XC90 forums the past year with true systems failures etc.

My Q7 is the finest vehicle I have ever owned and just hitting 4k miles, no real problems and I really truly love it. Would not trade it for any other competing SUV, no way.

Only questionable thing for me about is something thats turned up in the 2017 A4 forums (another site) regarding a "louder then should be" single click coming from the steering column just after turning the steering wheel when using the turn signals (then two double clicks after a full rotation). Its nothing really wrong, every vehicle has this (its the turn signal canceling ratchet mechanism) just for some reason on mine (and a number A4 owners) the audible click is loud and annoying. My wife's new Mazda 6 makes the softest of soft barely audible tick in the column. Thats is how most cars are and should be. I have not seen any other Q7 owners mentioning this, so my guess is theirs are quieter. I am going to take a video of mine and post a thread as I am curious of others. Have not bothered with the dealer yet cause as I mentioned, its not a problem really, just a minor annoyance (particularly when making several quick turns (click, click click). Will save it for my 10k service.

I will add there is one major problem. Because I purchased a car that was built before July I am not able to get the upgraded parking update that was just released via software. It seems I do not have the right kind of sensors and Audi has no plans to make those customers "whole" concerning this. It does make me worried there will be other updates that I will miss out on and hurt my resale value down the road because of it.

Yes sir, that's my concern as well for the early adapters.

I as well do not have this update but I guess I do not consider that to be a major problem. A bummer, sure, but not a mechanical failure level issue. But since on the subject, I had not heard about special sensors in addition to the software. Figured it was something we would all be able to get eventually. Can you tell us more on this? Thanks so much!

I have my Q7 for only two weeks. It's a new model, but have had no issues or any major annoyances. I've owned Audi's for many years now and the amount of issues have decreased for me with each newer model.
