A 90q is more plentiful car & parts wise, stay away from the 4kq.

Yeah, but a 4kq is as close to Ur-q as you can get.. great driving experience.

Default A type 44 is your best bet...

non-turbo Quattro is probably one of the most reliable cars around. The drivetrain is bullet proof (I ran an uber-boosted 200 TQ with a tranny that leaks it's gear oil out for a year and a half with no problems... it never broke but the car got seized by the ERASE program... but that's another story). The chassis is crazy strong. Katman saw what was left of the front end of a 200 TQ Avant after getting the front end smoked by a Ford Expedition. Prior to that I was rear ended in a 200 TQ (yes, these are all different cars!) and the sucker still drove like there was nothing wrong... apart fromt he fact the trunk was tuckd back to the rear wheels...

Anyway... what I am saying here is that I have abused the heck out of the type 44 cars and they take it all year long. Fully galvanized body makes them nearly immune to rust. Just frove my current '88 5000 TQ Avant 3100kms over a weekend 2 weeks ago... not a hicough and I had an MC1 motor, a 5kq tranny, a 5kq rear diff, 4 drive axles, a holset HX35, an intercooler and othe misc parts in it... and no noticable increase in mileage!

A UrQ will dissolve on the salted roads... then we'd have to kill you! Please don't do that.

Yeah, a B3 would be good in his case, I think.

Default Why??? I had GREAT experience with my 86 4kq...

Drove it for 350,000 miles, left me stranded twice, excellent performance in rough conditions, including ice and snow. That thing was a tank! Went from Frederick, MD to New Haven, CT via I-81 in central PA in a snow/ice storm. Sometimes up to 6 inches of snow at highway speed. Normal time of that trip is around 5 1/2 hours. I did it in 7 in those conditions.

The most I ever drove through was about 17 inches. Didn't get stuck til I entered my
driveway!

Also, I had Eibachs and Boge TG on that car, with 16 inch Borbet Type T. I would have to say that with equal power, that car would smoke an urq on the twisties.

Great car! Get one!

Default Yeah but the 4kq is like the urq in many ways over the last couple of years...

...less and less. 4k's in the junkyards are getting crushed and people who have them are keeping them. Everyday car definately the 90 my 90q 20v was just as much fun as my 4kq just ask the State Trooper I past two years ago during a snow emergency on a snow covered I395 at 65mph. Either his Crown Vic couldn't get out of the shoulder due to rear tires spinning in the snow or he saw the chrome "quattro" badge on the back and said "F'it"

Default Just as good as a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO would be, parts hard to find, expensive to maintain...

...and blasphemous to put a scratch in. Subie, Mitzy, 90q or even a type 44q would be a better driver.
