Define driving it "the same way"........
If you drive at low boost levels, the chip won't have any life shortening effect on the engine IMO. That's assuming air/fuel mixture ratios are not overly lean. There are lots of variables to take into account. If you are pushing the boost higher than what was previously the max output you will most probably shorten the life of some of the mechanical components of the engine. How much? That's a guess. Is it worth it? Only you and your budget can decide. Will you own the car long enough to find out how much it's shortened the life of the engine? That's also up to you. If you do decide to "chip" the car I would advise you to do your homework and go with a reliable program that's relatively conservative and is backed by a reputable company. Don't try to get to fancy or monkey with the ECU programming yourself unless you REALLY know what your doing. Mistakes can be VERY expensive. And you won't be getting much help or sympathy from AoA in the form of warranty coverage for any subsequent damage caused by modifications that you've made to the engine programming parameters.

Chipping does not decrease the life of the car. It all depends on a few variables such as :
1. How you warm it up
2. How you cool the engine oil after a hard run
3. How often you change the engine oil
4. Perform required maintenance
