Default "S" mode - disabling vacuum lines to exhaust flaps

Did anyone have a link to the writeup or post on this? I heard about it before, and would like to tackle it this weekend. I don't have jacks or jack stands, but from what I understand, I should be able to do it with nothing but my bare hands (and some zip ties, I guess).

Default by doing this simple mod, the exhaust will be loud all the way thru?

i read that it shuts the flap at higher speeds to reduce noise, so i take it this will prevent that?

Default you don't need jacks, jackstands, or zip ties.

all you really need is a pair of needlenose pliers to pull off the vacuum lines, and a couple of small screws to plug up the lines (though you don't really HAVE to plug them)...that's it. Takes about 5 minutes and you can do it without lifting the car.

Default no.

I ran with the lines unplugged for a couple of weeks with no problems. I then plugged the lines and still have had no problems.

Default I used golf tee's and zip tied the loose ends up so they wouldn't hang down.

you could just cut them shorter if you wanted. I thought I might replace them when I sell the car or if I get an exhaust I will trim them if it is a nonvalved system.

Don't forget to put a dust cover on the valve's vacuum ports as well,

Default I remember that one - back during all those B5/S4 vs. B7/RS4 wars on the forum

Everyone has been playing nicely for a long time now - thank god!
