Check Engine light
Last week, I was running a few errands. Car was warm when I started it - it sounded like it caught on just a couple cylinders but cleared itself out after maybe one second. I noticed the check engine light on immediately after this happened.
Took it to the dealer ship yesterday - Roger Jobs in Bellingham, WA (can't say enough good about this dealership!). The codes were for a 5 and 6 misfire. They cleared the codes, but the interesting thing was they said that there was an outstanding recall to replace all the coil packs, so they did that.
I may be imagining things, but this thing runs better with the new coils. Seems to start quicker (not that there was anything wrong before) and it sounds better with the S button pressed. Couldn't be happier.
I don't recall seeing anything on here regarding a coil recall, so if your car hasn't had it done, I'd recommend it.

I got a letter from Audi a few months back. It was a bit confusing because it was a "conditional recall" letter of sorts, stating that the coil packs were a known issue and might be replaced in the future, depending upon symptoms (i think).
You are lucky to get them all replaced, I heard that they're very expensive. Mine will probably die a few weeks after warranty runs out

Thanks!
Here is a thread about the "Voluntary Emissions Service Action 28F2/J1":

ditto.
I just had #3 ignition coil replaced at Tacoma's Larson Porsche/Audi, for same reason of CEL + obvious power/torque loss. They wouldn't replace them all since the recall was conditional, as ELEVENS suggested.

I'm not sure how you would research it, but Roger Jobs told me that the replacement coils have a different part number and that they replaced them all. I would think that if the new ones have a different spec, they would be required to match them all.
