Just make sure it's on Audi's 502.00 approved list...
Your first two are. Your second two are not. Best to avoid any warranty issues and stick to the list.

http://nyet.org/cars/info/Audi_Approved_Oil_Chart.pdf</a

Re: Just make sure it's on Audi's 502.00 approved list...
I think this list may be a bit out of date. I just purchased a case of Amsoil and it meets both of the Audi (VW) requirements.
I have used Mobli 1 all of my life, but I have not been able to find a 5W40 Mobil 1 oil recently that is not specifically for diesel's.
This will be my first time using Amsoil, I have done quite a bit of on-line analysis and hope it is as good as whaatt I have been reading.

Actually, Amsoil is not approved by Audi, it is, however, very good oil.
Scott,
I saw the correspondence on our system and can give you following answers:
* Amsoil 5 W 40 is not approved for the RS 4
* The factory oil fill for all V8 and V 10 engines is Castrol 0 W 30 synthetic
* Our list of approved oils is a "living " list that will be continuously updated as new engines come on line and new oil blends enter the market.

Re: Actually, Amsoil is not approved by Audi, it is, however, very good oil.
Marc, I am confused. Is there a difference between being approved by Audi and meeting the 502.00 and 505.00 specification?
Actually now that I look more closely at the Amsoil statement it says it is "recommended" for engines that require this spec and it implies that it is meets it.
Is this the difference. I hope it is good because I have 12 quarts in my garage waiting for when I have put a few 1000 miles on the car.

It is only amsoil that states they meet vw502 specs...
they never submitted for testing to be approved so they are not approved. They could be a great oil but they are not an approved oil.

I'm wondering why they do not approve any 0w-30 viscosities anymore at all...
for use in any audi motor but it is stated they are still using it as factory fill? After the oil sludge letters of 2004, audi has stated only approved oils in viscosity 5w-30, 0w-40, and 5w-40 and the OEM part numbers for "audi/vw" oils are a 5w-40. Do you think they are still factory filling in 0w-30 or was that old correspondance of pre2004 when they did used to fill with that?

I have run Amsoil for in the RS since June...
The "approved List" does not list all the oils meeting the spec.
Amsoil meets the spec and that is all you need to comply with, an oil does not have to be on the list to meet the requirements of the warranty, it only needs to meet the spec which it does.
I have done 2 oil analysis tests with Dyson and the oil is holding up very well and the engine is breaking in perfectly, 10K miles on the car.
I have used Amsoil for years. good stuff IMHO.
