First impression and dumb question
300 miles on the clock and just feeling the car out. Wow. My b7 S4 was a great car. Although the car is very familiar given the same platform, it also allows direct comparison. Better ride, better handling. Quite docile, if I so choose. Very comfortable. Steering feels "weird" as I go into a curve and expect it to feel like my S4. It doesn't. It tucks the nose a lot more. More neutral, less "dead horse strapped to the front bumper". Cornering is very flat, flatter than i would have thought given the compliant ride. The exhaust note on S mode was aptly described in one article I read as "automotive porno". It really is.
So far, no new little puddles from the DRC, so that is good news.
Now for the stupid question. I often run my car(s) through a local carwash. Quality establishment, never any problems, yadda yadda yadda.
The wheel face seems to be REALLY close to the outer most contour of the tire. That is, the wheel is almost flush with the tire. With the BBS CH on my S4, I never had any problems. Tire stuck out a lot further than the wheel face on that car. I am concerned with scratching these wheels on the guide tracks in the car wash. Anyone have comments or experience. Meanwhile, I am going to break out my griot's gear and do a hand wash.
Thank you for tolerating the stupid question.
as an aside, OMFG what a car.

Re: First impression and dumb question
19 inchers are generally pretty easy to scratch in carwash wheel tracks; my car is a daily driver and I've had my wheels repainted at an alloy wheel repair place. I've got a couple of small scratches and now I just live with them.

I'll never take my car to a car wash. . . learned the hard way with my 2-day old b7s4
towel boy had a pebble in his drying cloth and hacked her up pretty nicely on the BBlack finish.

Re: can you put 275s on existing rims?
yes and feel better plus look good too. Was a bit hard for them to put on the rims but it was more to do with the pressure sensor in the way. I like the rim protector on these Goodyear tyres too, I do think it gives more than the Pirelli P-Zero.
