how long do you expect the rotors to last on your car........
after 12k miles, my dealer is saying I have to replace my rotors because they are worn BEYOND mfg spec and have heat spots on them. Also, since I am just beyond 12k, they wont warranty them.
After 12k miles?!? my s4 rotors never got changed, lasted 40k miles and I beat the hell out of that car even more than I do the RS4.
Anyone have any advice? I am thinking (in someone of what I am leaning towards order):
1) Just put pads on and sell the car. Gallardo for fun, 335xi for sedan, and evo for beater
2) Put the Alcon system on there and pray it lasts more than 12k miles
3)Go with audi stock......

hot spots?...
if he means what i think, that's spots of bad steel...not entirely uncommon, can happen during manufacture. and in that case, try bringing up the 'defective' angle. if they are truely 'hot spots' there's nothing you did or could have done. it's a flaw in the rotor.

hmm, interesting concept. Are you sure? Theres no way to burn the rotors like you can on
a clutch? If there are burn marks on a clutch it means you are not shifting properly or abusing the clutch but I dont know how you can do that to the brakes. Are you not supposed to use them hard?

depends...
you can overheat the rotors, but it's not the same thing. "hot spots' on rotors is fairly common. They will appear as circular discolored spots, usually with uneven edges. it's a flaw in the steel that can show up no matter how you drive or where.
can't really compare a clutch face(not even steel) with a rotor. rotors are not exactly made of the best steel.

if the dealer tech described them as 'hot spots' then yes, i think you could...
it's a tough go because they're part of the braking system, and you know how that is. anyway, if it was me, i would certainly give it a shot. just be armed with information.
