Default iPod solution...

Get the Dension DiceLink i-Audi-T2 - it plugs right into the CD changer harness (with no mods) and works and sounds great. You lose the CD changer though - I have mine stored in a plastic bag. All you need for the intall are the keys to pull the CD changer out.

Default I actually have the Audi IPod adapter. My tech is putting it in tomorrow.

He is trying to figure out how to put an A/B toggle switch in so I can still use both. The cool part about the Audi on is that when you plug your IPod in it displays the rings and says, "Audi" I guess I'm a sucker for the little things. )

Can you control the iPod with the steering wheel controls?

Default or, alternatively, does the Dicelink let you interact with the ipod directly?

...i think the current audi solution is like the old BMW one, if I'm not mistaken: it plugs into the iPod main connector and takes it over. You can only navigate through the first six playlist via the Audi stereo, as those playlists mimic CD's 1-6. Is this accurate, or has the Audi system been updated? I know an update is on the way, but I don't know if the Navigation Plus in the RS4 and B7 S4 can handle that system. So confused!

Default You'll lose your sat radio too if you have it.....

When I tried on my S4, it had a high pitched whine too. I returned it after a couple days for a full refund.

Good luck.

Eric.

You still have full control using the iPod or you can use the steering wheel controls. In my experience any system that attemps to control an iPod through a head unit sucks. The only way to really do this well would be to mimick the actual iPod GUI on a head unit and that's just not going to happen. I've heard bad things about the Audi "solution." Plus, I'd rather lose the CD changer than the satellite radio.
