Actually, I followed up the next day. I told them I definitely didn't want that one, but to keep an eye out for me. The salesman knew that bra was the only thing preventing them from selling the car. If they could just spend a couple hours of labor to remove, don't you think they would?

He said he took the car over to their body shop and confirmed it was permanent.

Elevens - Yeah I know that was creating a bit of trouble by being down on A/S's. That's why I threw in "generally" multiple times. : ) I think your graph is right on and very close to the truth. The cross over point will more a few degrees this way and that with diff. compounds but it's right on. A high performance all season can get reasonably close to a summer tire in the dry. The bigger trade off with all seasons (as the graph confirms - more than 50% difference in performance) is in the winter, especially on slush. I find the better the dry performance the worse the slush and wet snow performance. That's what we get a lot of in Vancouver therefor my desire for full winter tires. I also ski and board so trips to the mountains are not uncommon and therefore the need for AWD and snows. Last year winter was mild, but the year before there was snow 1+ feet deep for 2 months on my street. My wife and I were some of the very few people getting in and out of our neighbourhood. AWD and 4 snows on our Subaru Outback were responsible for pulling a Land Rover up the hill (on some not so new all seasons.) Now that just felt like the neighbourly thing to do. Let me know how you fared this winter. Maybe new technology has made the above "old" and no longer valid.
