2006 S4 Avant 71k miles
I'm a newbie getting close to purchasing my first Audi. I'm getting rid of my 2008 VW R32, got a kid + dog now = just need more room. I got a line on a very clean <RED> 2006 S4 Avant (all option including Navi) with 71K miles on it. Currently the negotiated purchase price is 22.5K and I'm haggling with them over a extended warranty to cover the vehicle out to 100K miles.
Thru the Audi Sanctioned EW (Fidelity) my options are Silver (3yrs/36K) or Gold (2yrs/24K) - both cost 3K.
My questions to the elders of the Audi World.....
1. Does 22.5K seem like a decent price for a clean vehicle from this year and this many miles? NADA says 27.1K for clean retail on this car, but then again who pays retail for anything these days. The CARFAX report shows two owners, but regular services were all done at the dealership. I did notice that the rear rotors and brake pads are near their EOL when I inspected the vehicle and the dealership has agreed to replace them FOC.
2. Am I smoking a crack pipe for considering buying an extended warranty for 3K on a car that only costs 22.5K? I don't hear any timing chain noise now, but I figure if it goes in 20K miles, the EW pays for itself, am I right? Anyone have an opinion on buying the EW thru Audi (Fidelity)?
3. I've attached the coverage options to this post - I'm leaning towards the Silver even though it covers less items than the Gold. My reasoning is that most of the big tickets items that I've read about going wrong in the B7 threads would be covered AND I'd be covered for an extra year/12K miles.
Thanks ahead of time for any feedback or advice you can offer!

And I passed on it - scan tool showed the codes had been recently reset, TPMS has issues, valve cover gaskets are leaking, and driver side has had some bodywork (they did a good job, but then CARFAX showed no accidents)
Moving on with my S4 search
