Default B6 S4 engine whine

Do all B6 / B7 S4's have audible engine whine? My car, a 2005MY with low miles on it has a fairly loud whine that seems to be loudest between about 2,500 and 3,000 RPM. I don't recall hearing this when I test drove the car when new, but now it seems pretty loud - especially when driving down an alley...the whine reflects off the walls and is loud!

Any info greatly appreciated.

There is a TSB on it, but it still whines a bit. Normal.

Is this the serpentine belt TSB that is posted on the forum, or something related to the cam chain drive?

It's the ribbed belt one. New tensioner and idler.

Ahh, well like I said. It still makes the noise after you change it anyways. Normal.

Default Although The TSB is for the 04s many 05s suffer from the same problem. In fact,

They had to do my 04 twice to get rid of the whine. Have service replace the serpentine belt, tensioner, and pulley and the whine will be gone. You won't miss it. PS, the whine will get worse when it gets colder.

Default check your ps fluid too...

there's always a whine with these cars but it gets a lot worse when the power steering fluid is low.
