Decided on new S4, best time to buy?
Seriously, probably end of model year. you might catch the mid year deal however. I'd wait until facelift shows up at dealer lots, you'll save a bundle. 3000 off MSRP is nothing if you time it right. But good if you don't want to wait!
To me the biggest thing to be concerned about in holding off for a better deal is availability. You probably don't want to risk not finding the exact S4 you want simply because you waited a bit longer for a better deal. A great price on a car that's not what you want isn't a great deal any longer.
Seems like Audi puts incentives on cars to sell down inventory, but not clear the stragglers.

Bringing Audi to Life for Audi Fans
The think I dislike about the new 5, is everyone I see is a 525 or 530. VERY few 545s. Once you get to that point, the suspension is low enough...the exhaust is nicer, better wheels....its an upgrade.
I wouldnt buy something just because its new, but thats assuming you already own the alternative. In this case he owns neither. I would go buy something older intentionally, unless its a 993TT. But thats a whole diffrent kind of car.
When audi came out with the B6, everyone with a B5 said yuck. Now its hardly that. People reject it, becuase its natural and its not the car they have, so they defend it. No one really says "Damn that car is so much nicer then mine, I gotta get that." Same with the B7. It will be a very nice car, and you can option it in such a way like the 545 to make it desirable. Its just something new, and it has to grow on you, like the B6 did.
All that said, wouldnt buy something new just to buy it...but if one is riding off onto the sunset, and another brand new car is here that will be the face of the manufacturer. I would take that IMHO.
