Default Decided on new S4, best time to buy?

I'm set on the S4, but am not sure when might be the best time to buy? There're some good deals out now, ~$3,000 off MSRP, but I'm wondering if it may be better to wait until Feb/March when the 05.5's come out and see if Audi offers a bigger incentive on the current 05's. Any thoughts?

Default November

Ha!

Seriously, probably end of model year. you might catch the mid year deal however. I'd wait until facelift shows up at dealer lots, you'll save a bundle. 3000 off MSRP is nothing if you time it right. But good if you don't want to wait!

Default You can get a new S4 for 43-45, depending on the dealer. Also,

I would wait for the B7....IMHO. I love the B6, but I dont want an old body style soon as I pick it up.

Default All depends on your taste... for example

I would much rather have the E39 5 series as opposed to the newer E60 5 series. I am not one to get something simply because it's new. The newer car designs, especially those put out by BMW, are questionable to say the least. The E39 5 looked great when is came out and it still looks great IMO. That is not and will not be the case with the new E60.

Default Consider availability in that equation...

I got mine at the end of October specifically because I didn't want the B7.

To me the biggest thing to be concerned about in holding off for a better deal is availability. You probably don't want to risk not finding the exact S4 you want simply because you waited a bit longer for a better deal. A great price on a car that's not what you want isn't a great deal any longer.

Seems like Audi puts incentives on cars to sell down inventory, but not clear the stragglers.

Not only that but they save paying taxes by not having the inventory on the books for two different tax years.

Default Well...

we arent talking about a BMW are we. I agree with you on certain points.....like the 01, 540i is a favorite. And I love the old M5, but you would take the new M5.

The think I dislike about the new 5, is everyone I see is a 525 or 530. VERY few 545s. Once you get to that point, the suspension is low enough...the exhaust is nicer, better wheels....its an upgrade.

I wouldnt buy something just because its new, but thats assuming you already own the alternative. In this case he owns neither. I would go buy something older intentionally, unless its a 993TT. But thats a whole diffrent kind of car.

When audi came out with the B6, everyone with a B5 said yuck. Now its hardly that. People reject it, becuase its natural and its not the car they have, so they defend it. No one really says "Damn that car is so much nicer then mine, I gotta get that." Same with the B7. It will be a very nice car, and you can option it in such a way like the 545 to make it desirable. Its just something new, and it has to grow on you, like the B6 did.

All that said, wouldnt buy something new just to buy it...but if one is riding off onto the sunset, and another brand new car is here that will be the face of the manufacturer. I would take that IMHO.

Default Obviously I have not driven the E60 M5...

but I can tell you that I would opt for the E39 M5 over the E60. For this reason alone.... 6MT in the E39 M5 and only a 7 SMG in the new E60 M5. Also, here in the states it's next to impossible to use all of the power of the E39. If I am in Germany then I could justify having that kind of TQ and HP, but here in the states? Kinda pointless IMO. All it's good for is track and to say "yeah, but I have 500HP!"
