Engine startup rattle problem. Possible resolution....

My noise is def not a screech. It's more of a "clatter" than anything....
It's hard to describe. It sounds like a very dense piece of plastic with a decent mass is banging around inside the plastic intake manifold for about two seconds just after starting the car. It stops then occasionally the engine runs rough for about 5 seconds, finally settling down to normal operation. The engine roughness probably only happens 20% of the time after the noise. The roughness is likely because the intake runner flap is in the wrong position for long enough to screw up the engine computer a bit.

Well, I don't know for sure....
What I do know for sure is that this sound is not a little sound. Although I am as **** about sounds in the car as the next guy, this sound is downright loud, and draws the attention of people nearby. It sounds briefly like something in the engine broke off and is banging around inside. It is a very nasty sound and not something that is pleasant to live with. Totally unacceptable.
