Default what about the rollover argument w/ having a harness setup without a cage?

Referring to the argument that a harness sans a cage is actually more dangerous than running a regular seatbelt since it keeps you upright, and in the case of a rollover...possibly resulting in serious head/neck injury.

Thoughts? I wanted to get a harness but had second thoughts about it when this was brought up.

Wondering what the consensus is...

creates the opportunity for the roof to come into the driver's "space" in certain situations, I've seen rollover results in Audis, and none of them had the roof intrude so far as to be a problem. I suppose if a car got airborne and landed hard on its lid this might be different, but (IMHO)this extreme an accident seems very unlikely at a HPDE event.

I believe the additional support that a harness gives far outweighs any hazard given the extreme odds of such an occurance. I think if I was rolling, having a harness keep me from flailing around would be desireable.

This car rolled, ended up on its lid, but didn't bother either driver or instructor with roof encroachment. But don't try this in a.....

Of course if you're racing, interior roll protection is mandatory.
