Default 2011 S4 for Sale

Hi all,

I've decided that I can't live without a convertible (darn you, sunny southern California) so I'm moving on from my S4.

It's a pretty much loaded Meteor Gray Prestige (details below) with ~12,900 miles on it (likely another couple hundred miles on it by the time I sell it, unless it goes super fast (I can give it up as soon as this Saturday)

The dealer has indicated he'll be around $47K on a trade-in, but if I can get $49K from a private party, it's yours. I'm also willing to transfer the lease (Goes through March 10, 2014; 23 x $1,029.24 monthly payment, right around 23,000 miles left to burn (36K mile lease); $33,579.00 end-lease residual and I'll throw in $2,000 once the lease transfer and release of liability are approved).

Happy to provide additional information or make arrangements to see the car, but I'm not likely to go with a lowball or unusual offer (not shipping the car to Nigeria, thanks) since I can just walk in and hand the dealer the keys for $47K.

Here's the details on the car:

2011
Model: 8K254Y S4 3.0 SEDAN 4-DR AUTO S TRONIC QUATTRO $48,000

PQB TITANIUM PACKAGE W/ PRESTIGE $400

Thanks!

Oh, and it's got tinted windows (light tint, not limoish, I think 35%? Maybe 40%?) and a clearbra. Both professionally done and in good shape.

Also, I have the Audi Care prepaid maintenance. I'm not certain if that is transferable or not.

Yes, it would be tranferrable but I have a question.... If you want 49k and you will give the buyer back 2k after its done then isn't that 47k? Exactly what the dealer is offering you?

Sorry, the 2K was for taking over the lease. Sorry that wasn't clear.

Can I ask you how much money you put down on the lease to start?

If you can get $47k from the dealer, I recommend you take it and runnnnnnnnnnn. You'll save thousands alone in tax by trading in at that high price. You'd have to get more than $2k difference in private sale to make up for the tax savings

They are talking about the sales tax on your new purchase. In many states, if you trade in your car, you only pay sales tax on the difference between the new car purchase price and your trade in.

Example:
New car price $60,000
Trade-in $47,000

Sales taxable amount $13,000 (instead of $60,000)

This is one of the big things dealers use as leverage to get you to trade in your used car.

I don't believe this is true in California though (I have family that lives there). Someone else in CA would need to confirm.
