Default Almost bought S4 yesterday but could not do it. Advice

I have a 2008 A5 s line 3.2 loaded up with everything. It is automatic trans. It is in mint condition with 36,000 miles on it. My dealer has a 2011 S4 quartz grey metallic with red and black napa leather seats. options are navigation and titanium package only. It is a six speed. My concerns are there is little or no room in the back for passengers, no B&O stereo system. It is way faster than my A5 but it really does not look as good.

Anyone else gone from A5 to S4? Anyone have feedback on the standard stereo system?

Thanks

Did you drive the S4? The back seat is not that bad IMO. A5/S5 certainly better looking than A4/S4. I'm sure DrGP will pipe up on the stereo, as he elected not to get the B&O.

Are you looking for a car with a larger rear seat than the A5? I didn't buy an S5 3 years ago because there was little to no room in the back seat. One of the reasons I am buying the S4 is because, at 6'2, I can fit in the back seat. I know it is not a ton of room in the rear but there is certainly way more room than your current A5 as well as the previous generation A/S4 IMO.

We put 2400 kilometers on an S4 Avant while driving all over Germany last year with 6'2" folks sitting in the back seat as we rotated driving duties. No one ever complained about room in the back seat. Keep in mind the B8 S4 is about the same size as a C5 A6 on the inside which was considered to be a proper mid-size sedan back in the day.

Are you serious? The A5 is a joke as far as the backseat goes. I would have bought the S5 if the backseat compared tou our S4. I just got back from driving around with 5 in my car. Two in the back were 6' 1 and 6' 2 neither one complained. For looks I would kill for the S5.

If you are really serious about an S4, you will be better off ordering one to your personal specs. The backseat will be just fine, unless you are going cross county with 6'2" passengers. IMHO, the S4 looks good but sedans are never a sexy looking as coupes. BTW, PLEASE don't order or buy one with out the sport dif option. IMHO, it is THE option that makes the S4 special. As far as the stereo is concerned, I didn't get the B&O and don't miss it. But others will tell you it is a must. If you want it get it. If your not a huge audiophile, you can live without it. IMHO,the standard radio is pretty decent .

I switched from A5 2.0T to S4 2.5 months ago. I had to forgo the B&O system when I switched. Back seat room is way larger in the S4 than A5.

As far as performance and everyday practicality goes, I would never look back. A5 may look better, but S4 has more substance and gutsy. You really cannot get a better car for a daily driver than the S4.

No rear differential is a setback, i would pass if i were interested in spirited driving, i have an electronic rear diff on my TurboX and it makes the car feel like it is steering with the rear wheels in tight turns.

If it were a slushie 2-pedal i'd focus more on interior options, as obviously driving will be boring.

The options on the car sound right, keep in mind haggling off the lot works a lot better than with ordering.

Oh get over yourself. As if you need three pedals to have fun driving.

I don't know where you got that idea, but in my experience (and others on here and AZ), ordering yields a much better deal than buying off the lot.

While the A5 is a gorgeous car, I think I may be able to help with your decision. I was facing a similar delima before I placed an order for my S4.

Read every review you can find on the net about both cars. It is really tough to find reviews that don't heap praise on the S4 and it's driving dynamics vs. reviews for the A5, while praising the cars asthetics, don't have as many kind things to say otherwise (generally speaking). The practicallity of the sedan, the glowing reviews and a couple of test drives that had my faced hurting from the smiles made it a easy choice for me. Good luck with your decsion. Either way, you are in a good predicament.
