Default Attention DSG owners... Who's interested?

OK... Who is interested in full length aluminum shift paddles? They would look very similar to the CF ones posted by Alex but at a fraction of the cost... My brother is going to make me a set but if there is interest we will make enough to satisfy the forum members at a reasonable price... We plan on doing this sooner than later so please let me know... I am meeting with my brother at 2pm today to go over the measurements and we plan to get started as early as Sunday but probably next week... His shop is very busy but I'll get him to move these up on the schedule, especially if it is more than 1 set

Few questions...

Do you like the two sided tape to hold them or would you prefer a set screw to hold them in place?
Do you want grooves or a channel on the backside for your fingers?
Do you want them full length up and down or just top?
What is a fair price given the CF ones are $675?

What else are you looking for in them?

If there is interest will make 10-20 sets right away... Let me know, please...

I'm in. Those CF ones are sweet but that price is laughable. I'd rather have aluminum anyway. So please make this happen.

Double sided tape is fine. $200-250 is the max price I'd pay. Full length up and down.

Add me to the list! My prior car had much bigger "paddles" and it is much easier to shift with bigger paddles on the track/canyons. I prefer double sided tape as well as long as they'll stick properly.

Quick update... Just got home from my brothers and we have a mock up and have ordered material... They will be similar in shape to the CF ones but will have a grove on the backside that will run the full paddle as well as three holes on the top and bottom that get progressively smaller... Will have a set on my car some time next week or more likely next weekend... If people like them we will have ones for others within a week after that so this will happen quickly... Will have a price once a set is made....

double sided tape will hold them? neat.

Any pics of these carbon fibre ones so I can see what you're talking about?

p.s. could you open this up to A4 owners as well to help with the cost? Or is this a boutiquey small job, rather than a business idea?

middle of the page...

http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...heel-Selection...

It's more of a I saw them showed him and he said I'll make you a set... Then I said there may be some interest from others... he said well lets make one set and see if everyone likes them and go from there... They would fit an A4 or R8 for that matter...

I might be interested, but I want to see a picture of what this version looks like first.

Understood and I added you for now... Trust me I want to use a screw as well but here are the challenges... We don't want anyone to have to alter the integrity of the Audi installed paddle so drilling them is out. So we thought we could use a set screw on top and bottom of the existing paddle... There isn't anywhere to do this on the bottom of the paddle... Also, the contour of the existing paddle makes it even more of a challenge... There are some very strong double sided tapes and they won't move or fall off in high heat or extreme cold... Again, I'll make them and everyone can decide for themselves...

My post on AZ got erased and will probably here... I understand forum rules and why they did it... Little dissappointing but understood... Just trying to make a niche product that a company is charging $675 for when it should be in the $200 range... I still plan to make the prototype and will post pictures and then work via PM's or emails... So if you see this post go away I have the id's of the first 10...

I would hope this thread does not get deleted.

The spirit of this thread seems different to me than others that were removed...

This seems more of a 'skunk-work' operation (which does NOT mean it won't be an amazing product with fantastic quality)...I'm just saying this is being done by a couple guys who are finding a cool way to mod their car and they are sharing this with the group...to me THAT is part of the spirit of this forum.

Moderators...please leave this thread in tact. Thank you.
