Default memory key

I have a new S4. I read in the manual that the seat will adjust to the stored memory setting when either unlocking the car or inserting the key. When I shut the car off I generally move the seat back before getting out. The seat does not automatically go back to my stored setting when getting back into the car. What am I doing wrong?

You have to have Prestige trim, it will have memory buttons 1, 2, 3 on the door, If you have this, you set one button with your settings while the key you want to use is in the car and turned on. Someone else can use the other key and store under another number, then when you use that key it returns to all settings.

If you have Premium +, you don't have this.

Thanks, I have the premium model, however, you would think premium would be premium! No big deal as my wife has no interest in driving the car so I set memory 2 so that the seat goes back to ease getting in and out. It sounds like I am fat however 5'9" 170 lbs

Also note: by default - the keys don't retain the memory seats. As delivered, the keys are exactly the same and you have to use the buttons on the door to activate the memory. If you want they keys to also activate the memory, you need to turn that on in the MMI.

That is what I don't understand that option is in the MMI settings but the key doesn't do anything. The only ways I can move the seat is with the control on the seat or the memory 1 or 2 buttons.

The Audi memory key really suck when compared to MB's. MB's would sense the key you are using when you unlock your door and move the seat to the appropriate setting automatically without pressing any buttons depending on the key it senses. It also automatically moves the seat back for easy ingress for tall people. The Audi S4 memory key does not have this and I assume this is what you are looking for. The MB system also allows the user to memorize settings 1 and 2 for each key while the Audi one will only allow setting one setting if you have two keys. With the Audi system if you set your setting as 1 than that is your setting and your wife as 2 that would be your wifes setting and your wife has to press 2 for the seat to move to her setting.

If you have the buttons, you have memory keys. Perhaps it comes standard north of the border, we don't get it on anything but Prestige in the US. If you have those, you need to go into the MMI Car -> setup and find the setting to turn the option on, then you can bind your key to the number you use on the door.

Let me dig my manual out, I don't have this feature (sadly) but I remember seeing the info on how to get the key synched up with the memory.

**** Edit ****

It appears that the keys and numbers operate independant of each other:

"When the Vehicle is locked, the current settings are stored and assigned to the remote control key (assuming this has been set to "on" in the MMI under Car -> Seat Adjustment -> Driver's Seat -> Kem mem profile -> On). But the settings stored on memory buttons 1 and 2 are not deleted. They can be recalled at any time. When the vehicle is unlocked, the settings stored on that remote control key are restored.

If your vehicle is driven by other persons using your remote control key, you should save your seat positions using the memory buttons. You can recall your settings again simply and conveniently by pressing the corresponding memory button. When the vehicle is locked using the remote control key, these settings will the automatically be re-assigned to that remote control key and stored."

So set the seat how you want it, then lock the car - if you have the smart keys turned on in MMI. Use another key to unlock the car and move the seat around, then use your original to unlock it and see if it all moves.

Thank you I look forward to your reply. The base model in Canada is somewhat different to the US model. The base rims are almost the same as the 19" rims. This key think is pissing me off as there is a setting in the MMI.
