Quick MMI music questions
Everyone is right about the SD card audio quality being superior to the iPod though. Very noticeable. The other alternative is to get a portable hard drive and USB adapter for the AMI. You'll get digital sound quality but more capacity. No personal experience using it though.
Side question: When the Ipod is connected to the car in the glovebox, does it ever shut off? Or is it constantly drawing power from the battery? I noticed when the car is off and I open the glovebox that the Ipod is on.
I got a 32 GB card and loaded it up and found that there is a 4000 song limit on each SD card. After this, weird random messages about folders not containing playable files start showing up.
I have never had a problem with the SD card not loading quickly with over 3900 songs on it as long as I just leave it in there.
So, even if MMI CD ripping worked, it's not as easy/fast as the above method.
Bringing Audi to Life for Audi Fans
EF99, I haven't played with Media Player in a long time, but it sounds like a good option. For me, I typically put any new music on my iPod through iTunes, so it is easy to drag and drop the tracks to an SD card and then load to the jukebox as desired.
urojohn, agreed. I don't expect to try ripping any more CDs. I will still occasionally buy an actual CD but if so it may be through the mail and not at a store where I 'absolutely need to rip it right away'. I'd just listen to it in the CD player (remember those? lol).
