Red on Red on order
Well,
After months of reading this excellent forum, and many other months convincing myself and my pocketbook, I've ordered my S4.
Here the spec:
6 speed manual transmission
Brilliant Red
Magma Red Nappa Leather
Sport Diff
B & O
MMI+
Supercharger badge
I finally got a chance to test drive the 6 speed today, and (considering this will be my 5th stick) I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't yet. I personally feel more connected to the car and the road when driving stick, and with this car especially. I previously drove the DSG and thought it was a great car, but today I had the WOW moment... wow I better watch out for that cop that is..
My build date is 3/21

The magic of an order bank
2 things led to my dramatic order timeline.
(1) Every allocation cycle my dealer keeps 5 or 6 "customer orders" out of thin air, for customers like me
(2) He found an order that what somewhat similar and we changed it to match my config, and the build date jumped from 4/04 to 3/21, probably due to some factory scheduling...
I'm shocked at how far back the orders are, he placed my "order" back in November as you had indicated. Seems like you need to find a dealer that is "speculating" on this S4 market...
Man I can't wait!!!

Most volume dealers will have a bunch in the pipe ready to go. I switched mine on a phantom order to match my requirements.

Question for those with experience,
Just got my commission number from the dealer today and there are two dates next to the number:
Assigned Production Week
12/2011 03/21/2011
Actual Production Week
10/2011 03/07/2011
In everyone's experience when did your car get built? On the "assigned" week, or the "actual" week (not that two weeks is gonna kill me or anything, but I'm thinking waaay too much about this inanimate object I just bought...)
