Stock Summer tires in the snow...
Would you guys recommend just getting snow tires instead of all weather tires? I live on Long Island so we do get some snow, it all depends how much though... And what does most everyone do? Get an extra set of wheels? Or take their summer tires off the wheels and put the winter ones on?

It's not even close! Look at what summer tires do in the snow.
I have not yet bought winter tires for my S5 but I certainly will in the next couple of months.

I just placed the order for my S4 yesterday, It is due sometime in December, just curious if any of you have ran your summer tires in the snow? Or do I need to go out and buy winter tires? The car is a lease so I really don't wanna invest any more money than I have to.
Thanks
I drove through my first Winter in the DC area ('09-'10) with Summer Pirelli's. I think I drove in snow maybe three times on major roads. Not too bad, but I definitely wouldn't do it again.
When the stock tires ran out @ 19K I got a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus and what an improvement! Great in the snow, awesome in the rain and pretty damn good inn the dry - w/out a lot of noise, good grip. Overall, I'd be happy getting another set if I don't go the Winter/Summer setup next year.
OP, you're a stupid, inconsiderate idiot for even considering driving in winter weather with summer tires. How the hell could you even consider putting the lives of others at risk simply because you're too damn cheap to buy the right tires? Stop thinking about your cheap-*** self and start thinking about the other drivers on the road.

Listen Blow J*B, if I was that inconsiderate and cheap, I never would have even posted this question, How bout you buy my tires than money bags???
For everyone else... I am on Long Island .. I appreciate everyones help... So another question I already know the answer to but just confirming.. I am getting 19's on the car, I do have a set of 17" 5 spoke wheels from a B6 A4, would I be able to put the snow tires on these rims? or will it completely throw off the car??
Thanks Again!!

I would recommend good quality A/S tires from Michelin, Bridgeport, Pirelli, Continental if you use the S4 for daily commute. If you constantly drive on unplowed backroads and in heavy snowstorm/icy conditons, than investment on a dedicated snow package is a small investment in insurance.
I switched to Continental Extremecontact DWS first day I got my S4. Sold my summer tires. Living in Alberta, Canada I don't want to risk driving with summer tires in winter.
