Winter wheels
I have the 19" 255/35 Pirelli's. Thankfully I bought the car a month ago and have a whole summer ahead of me, but I believe the winter wheels are necessary and was wondering for the people who have winter wheels here what the smallest set you can use are and if snow tires are necessary on them (in NJ).

My recommendation would be to get a set of 18 inche wheels at put either the Michelin Pilot Alpins (I own these) or the Blizzak LM-60's.
You are better off with the 18's rather than 19's for winter use...they bite the snow better...they are less expensive and you have a better selection too.
A few have gone down to 17's, but I believe most of our friends who have done that are from way up north, Canada...but most will probably recommend the 18's for the S4.

I was able to find a nearly-perfect set of 17" OE wheels (from a 2009 B8 car) on Craigslist for under $400.
There are take-offs out there and some of the other Audi forums have fairly extensive for sale sections with loads of wheels.

Do you have to adjust alignment specs when you change wheel sizes on this car? I ask because I had my truck aligned yesterday and the tech noted that I need to have it realigned when I switch back to the winter wheels. They are both OEM wheels, but there is a 3" change versus my S4 which is just 1" (OEM 18's winter/ OEM 19's summer).
