Default Oil eater

Question,
does this engine suck down a lot of oil or is just my car?
I have only 4400 miles on it. 3 months old and I am almost at the 1/2 way mark on the max-min oil mark.
whats up with that? where does it go?
lol

It burns. But, 1/2 a quart in 4400 miles is nothing. One quart per 1000 is considered normal.

Don't add any oil unless you are down a full quart and/or you are close to an oil change due mileage.

Audi says up to 1/2 qt every 600 is normal -- the below is in my manual.. I've heard that previous years have had some major oil consumption issues, which is probably why they say its "normal".. On my car, I have not seen any loss of oil when checking, and I have 12K on my car.. I also only have it changed at 10K.. If it wasn't a lease, and I didnt get the car with AC, I probably would do it at more like 5000-7500.

Exactly! As you may know, oil consumption is largely based on how the engine breaks-in. It's all about getting those rings seated. The better the seal, the less oil is consumed.

Audi manual says it normal to burn oil just so they can cover their ***....only engine that I know its build to burn oil by designe is Mazda rotary engine....which it uses oil as a seal and only oil you can use in that engine is conventional oil....if you use synthetic oil on that engine Mazda will void car warranty because synthetic oil does not burn good as it does conventional oil. So any engine that requires fully synthetic oil like our your engine it is not normal to burn oil. I don't if Mazda still makes that type of engine
