I have to agree with Mark's comments about driving in "D". I literally have to learn how to drive differently when i'm in that setting, because the throttle response and transmission behave so
differently. I too rarely drive in anything but "S" because it's SO damn good!

on the contrary, if you're droning on the highway in cruise, you are CRAZY not to change out of "S" into "D" for pure and simple economy and comfort.

I will say, I LOVE that Audi gives us the ability to shift between ECU mappings like this -- it's like having a car with mulitple personalities!

Once I hit the Interstate, I make sure the cruise is set -- which accomplishes upshifting to 8th, even tho the transmission is in "S" mode. Of course, I mostly use cruise anyway due to traffic congestion.
