Sweet, I will need something like this as well, since the car is a de-facto replacement for the A6 Avant. I presume there's no Sirius reception with the cargo box on the roof because it blocks the signal, right?

Radio signals go through the box s it doesn't block sitius, at least w my thule. When its loaded w skis, etc it can intermittently cut out when driving certain directions

Actually works perfectly fine, as does nav satellite.

My shakedown run was about 50 miles in mostly overcast weather and it didn't cut out once. Maybe in heavy snowstorms in the mountain canyons with 4 pairs of skis in it reception will fall apart but I remain hopeful.

Excellent. I have an 1819 coming for mine with the 53" bars. I'm glad it's the right fit. I do wish Audi would transition to built-in roof mount points like Mercedes and BMW offer, though. I'm going to miss the benefits that they provide for quick install and removal combined without having to worry about protecting the clear coat. But giving that up is a small price to pay for a superior car

Completely agree. I wish I could get an S4 Avant, that way I'd have proper roof rails like on my A6 Avant At least I got my guys at the shop vinyl cut properly sized strips to put below the rubber feet that I can remove every time so that it doesn't have an impact on paint.

Agreed on both points. I am considering going the vinyl route. The only downside is that I don't usually keep the rack on my car for extended periods. I tend to throw it on for an afternoon or day trip here and there. I'm not sure I want to keep vinyl on my roof when it will be bare 95%+ of the time. And putting vinyl down each time is rather silly. Oh well. I'll figure something out.
