Default CPP link boots. --->

<center><img src="http://209.128.70.155/cpplinkboots.jpg"></center><p>
My friend Tom Seymour thought of this. He brought over an old mountain bike inner tube. We cut out two sections, punched ½" holes, slid them over the Heim joints, and tied them with cable ties. Finally, we injected some CV joint silicone grease.

Here's hoping these (untested) boots stay on. If they do, the life of my CPP adjustable upper links will be extended significantly.

Default I've done similar things on my headsets and bottom brackets and it never seems to

work very well. It works a lot better than NOT having them however. It seems that the integration of such a boot would be better done by cpp, especially since you're ziptieing to a hexagonal rod and that's for sure a place for grime to get in.

Anyway, good garage engineering, I like it. )

I think a thin wire would be a better clamping mechanism. You could really go at it with a pliers.

Default Cheaper and better would be sticking with zipties and glueing a.....

strip of aircraft foam on the inside of the innertube. This would make it water tight even if the innertube had small tears, seal up the ends on the hex-shaped rods, and keep the whole thing snug and in place.

Been there, done that. Its better than a ziptie, but still dirt/grime gets in.
