Default I am *so* screwed; dropped something important in the black hole; is driver's seat removal DIY???

You know the tiny gap between the front seats and the center console? Yeah, well this time I dropped something valuable down there, not just loose change or gum wrappers. I spent well over an hour trying every seat position and digging around under there but can't find it. Anyone got any suggestions to save my @ss?

two allen screw bolts (8mm) in the front and then just lift the seat up. They are under the covers

Default I've tried everything, including the fancy Craftsman grabber cable tool thing.

Problem is that I can't see where it went. I just gotta figure that as it slid down there it found a crevice and got wedged. The only solution I can think of is to pull the seat and hope that gives me access to everything under there and along the rail and mechanisms.

Do you know anyone who's pulled one of the front seats? I found this link which makes it sound straightforward so I guess I may have to give it a try. (Not tonight of course...too tired and too pissed off, I'd probably break something)

https://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/314870.phtml</a

Default Thanks. Do I need to disconnect the battery for the airbags?

Also, any suggestions on how to keep grease from getting everywhere when taking the seat out?

Default let me guess - wedding ring? engagement ring? at least you didnt drop it in an inlet pipe :)

i'd just use something thin like a ruler to try to smack whatever it is to the front or back of the seat.

Default I've had luck retrieving stuff from the blackhole by putting the seat all the way up...

and all the way forward. My wife dropped the keys in there one time while she was waiting for me in the car. I about broke my arm getting them out, but I was able to that way.

Default I'm not saying, or I'll never live it down. ;-) Problem is, I can't see it down there.

And I've looked *thoroughly* with enough light to nearly blind me from every angle possible. It's gotta be in a crevice of one of the rails or mechanisms down there.

Yeah, I've saved stuff that way too, but this is nowhere to be seen.
