10W40? The oil itself says its good for upto -49, but I would imagine that being the point were it Gels... I'm not due for an oil change for about another 1000-2000 miles, so should I be alright running this for about another month or so? (aside from the long warm uptime, is there any other possible probs?)

But isn't Syntec not a "pure" synthetic now?
Seem to remember reading that they changed the formulation, getting away from a "pure" synthetic base-stock (or something like that).

Correct - they chemically alter the wax molecules from dino oil to get their "synthetic". That was
the cause of the big FTC stink (lawsuit brought against Castrol by Mobil) over what was legally allowed to be called a synthetic oil. Article was published in Car and Driver about this about two years back or so. But Mobil 1 has since changed their formulation to include some of this synthetic dino. There are some good S.A.E. articles that cite the "Type" of oil basestocks. Sorry, I'm not good about keeping these links...

I think that I found that info when I did a Google search on the ACEA specs a while back. (More...)
Regarding the different Types of base oil stocks and the technical definitions, etc. Detailed technostuff if you are so inclined.
