May be Purchasing a 2002 S4
I had a 2000 S4 and have missed it ever since I traded it in. Currently leasing a 2003 BMW 540i Sport. My lease is up in June, and I found a 2002 S4 with 31,000 miles, new cra waranty till June and it is CPO. The dealership is asking for 27,500. How does this price sound? Also, I am looking to purchase the car and ultimately drive it into the ground ( currently doing 25,000 a year for work). How do these cars last after 50,000 miles? Thanks in advance for your comments.
New diverter valves 2 weeks ago (1st replacement)
New rotors + pads 2 days ago (1st replacement)
Samco TBB going in tonight. (1st replacement)
I do have a slight oil leak coming from somewhere, though.
Wheel Bearings, especially rear
Timing Belt/Water Pump/Pulley's/Ribbed Belt
Upper Front Control Arms
Likely things that will fail:
Diverter Valves
Auxillary Coolant Pump
EGT Sensor(s)
O2 Sensor(s)
Center Cluster Display (lcd burn out)
Window Regulator(s)
I also had my stock pressure plate "explode" at 70k miles, and 60k of those were stock ECU.
Of course, you can always do the swap ECU trick every time you go in to the dealer for warranty work. It's been working for me for the past three years. I'm in CPO warranty now.
