Default May be Purchasing a 2002 S4

Hi Guys,

I had a 2000 S4 and have missed it ever since I traded it in. Currently leasing a 2003 BMW 540i Sport. My lease is up in June, and I found a 2002 S4 with 31,000 miles, new cra waranty till June and it is CPO. The dealership is asking for 27,500. How does this price sound? Also, I am looking to purchase the car and ultimately drive it into the ground ( currently doing 25,000 a year for work). How do these cars last after 50,000 miles? Thanks in advance for your comments.

Default 83k on my 2000, nothing broken. Mostly self maintained.

New timing belt last year.

New diverter valves 2 weeks ago (1st replacement)

New rotors + pads 2 days ago (1st replacement)

Samco TBB going in tonight. (1st replacement)

I do have a slight oil leak coming from somewhere, though.

Default $27,500 sounds a bit high (as sad as that is)

25k/year on a car is good chunk of miles...

Default my car was solid up to 70k miles, then it really let me have it...

...some things that will need to be replaced in time are listed below. Also, my car was driven hard, though taken care of. My commute was also rarely freeway, so my close to 90k miles was not the easiest.

Wheel Bearings, especially rear
Timing Belt/Water Pump/Pulley's/Ribbed Belt
Upper Front Control Arms

Likely things that will fail:
Diverter Valves
Auxillary Coolant Pump
EGT Sensor(s)
O2 Sensor(s)
Center Cluster Display (lcd burn out)
Window Regulator(s)

I also had my stock pressure plate "explode" at 70k miles, and 60k of those were stock ECU.

Default I think that's a good price - *out the door* that is. Of course, that's also going

by the mentality that you aren't going to chip the car (so as to not void warranty).

Of course, you can always do the swap ECU trick every time you go in to the dealer for warranty work. It's been working for me for the past three years. I'm in CPO warranty now.

From what the dealership told me, it has had no modifications done to it- now my 2000 had a chip, so I am anxious on seeing and driving the car- should be able to tell if it is chipped- i was hoping to talk them down to 25500 or so-

sounds like a solid price to me - 02s arent so numerous as it is, even less so with such low milage.
