Oil smoke... Where is the oil coming from?
I have an 01.5 Avant, 97k miles. The car has TT diverter valves and GIAC programming.
A few weeks ago, I was having problems with blowing oil smoke, especially on startup. There was significant oil in both intercoolers, leading to a diagnosis of blown turbos. The turbos were replaced- that's when the diverters were installed and the GIAC programming flashed.
I've put about 1,000 miles on the new turbos with no problems (nor any even "spirited" driving, as I was advised at least 1,000 miles or so for break-in).
I noticed the same smoke on startup today. I dropped the skidplate and the driver's side intercooler hose was filled with foamed oil again.
What could this be? Bad new turbos (from Audi)? Something else entirely?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
