Default I think he's saying that those people/companies don't make a business of "custom tuning individual's

cars"

Default Stay tuned in early 2006... Hybrids owners might be *VERY VERY* happy...

People will need fueling management system (like APEXi S-AFC) piggie back and a predefined duo of injectors/MAF Housing. Something is on its way for real.

Default assembly language isn't rocket science

the only thing holding us back is lack of documentation, which "real" tuners hold like the crown jewels because they know anybody can do it with the right docs.

Why do you think so many depend on janky piggyback solutions?

Default Assembler is not the problem

If you disassemble the code from A to Z, this won't get you very far because it won't tell you what the maps do. The most important is knowing what the maps do, how the interact with each other, how they affect real-world parameters and so on...

The lack of documentation is a good lack IMHO, as that sort of data, in the wrong hands can lead to lots of engines damaged. I have seen this and I see it every day with german tuners emailing me asking what they're doing wrong and why the engines won't run right and why they don't get any fault codes, because they have the right documentation, they disable all diagnostic functions and then they wonder why turbos blow up and so on....

Tuning is not just programming, if it were just that then I wouldn't be a tuner to start with, as I'll admit it, I have never in my whole life disassembled a single line of program code. But on the other hand, I have spent thousands of hours understanding maps, understanding their exact functions and how they all work together, plus thousands of hours with a real-time emulator modifying everything and understanding what every mod was changing to the way an engine was running.

HTH,

Mihnea
