Serpentine belt came off, not broken: anyone have this happen?

Serpentine belt came off, not broken: anyone have this happen?

Pulled out of garage and to the stop sign. I wanted to make a turn and no more power steering.

I checked and the belt was off. I havent taken everything off yet, but i suspect a failing belt tensioner...strange becuase I replaced it less than 10K ago.

Is there anyway I can check to see if the tensioner is bad, once I am in there??

Mine popped (burned) off when my tensioner pulley seized

It doesnt look like it burnt or anything, maybe it came off because the tensioner was not tight

enough...not sure though we will see soon!

Mine only burnt because the tensioner seized

It was pretty obvious what happened. Smelled like burning rubber, belt was fubar'd and the tensioner pulley ground itself into the tensioner arm :-/

If the belt came off on its own, sounds like the tensioner failed. There isn't anything else...

that is adjustable on the belt line. Let me know if you need help taking it apart and putting it back together. Try not to drive it to much since you aren't charging the battery.
