Are there any early symptoms of clutch going bad?
Other than the obvious slippage, which I consider a sign of it having "gone" vs. "going bad".
The car is feeling a little rough lately when I let out the clutch in first gear.

Having the same issue...
When letting out the clutch, I get this weird semi-vibration/tapping feeling on the pedal. Also, I find that I need more gas these days to start off in 1st without having the engine sputter. heh This is my first manual car... =P

The plate could be slightly glazed. Usually it's from some high...
rev slippage. In other words, one or more sessions of slowly letting out the clutch while the engine was revving--probably for several seconds at a time. Those are the cases when I've witnessed direct cause and effect feedback.

This happened to me...
I had the dealer replace my clutch and then it went again. Im now upgrading to a better clutch/lightweight flywheel from Speedtech. If your interested in going to same way let me know, its a better solution than getting another stock clutch.
