Pics from the install. They suck, but you'll get the idea.
The compass unit mirror is a little thicker and the mount protrudes down a little more, but you'd never notice it, and can't tell while driving.
I bought it thru the group buy organized by JoshD. It was $195 incl. shipping which made it worth it to me. The $375+shipping from Clair was a rip. I don't know if he has any left. At the time I got one of the last few.
Sorry for the horrible focus. I tried several w/ and w/o flash and at different distances. Just not enough light, and when too much, then the compass reading disappears. Grrrr.

Here's old and new. Old one is on the bottom. See how the new one is thicker, and the windshield mount is bigger:

The dimming sensor is located at the top of this one. It's the fuzzy spot at the top center. The sensor is at the bottom of the old one:

The readings update in 45degree increments: N, NW, W, SW, S, SE, E, NE:
