Where is the ABS controller on a 2000?
Hey guys,
Well, you can add me to the list of people who have bad ABS controllers on a 2000 S4. I've only had the car for about 5000 miles and it started the symptoms last week. I ordered a VAG-COM and ran it today and it showed the normal 01203 ABS/18014 Engine codes.
Luckily, I found 2 places that both rebuild these with 3 year warranties for $250. 2-day turnaround on the rebuilding, also!
Now, I have a Bentley CD, but thus far I have been far from happy with it. It's more confusing than helpful. The ABS controller for my car is not in the backseat like it specifies in the manual, so I'm assuming this is 2001-2002 models only.
Is the unit actually attached to the ABS hydraulic unit? Since the Bentley is of no help to me, and STFA didn't help me either, how the heck do I get this thing off?
If someone has the details, please let me know. I want to take it off and ship it this week or the first of next week at the latest. The lights and beeping are very annoying.

i actually had a jug of Audi G12 sitting here. i dropped it off with a freindly note to a neighbor who had a beautiful 2000 casablanca white S4 at their house one day.
hope they appreciated it - the dealer rapes you on that stuff.

Here's what the controller looks like after you remove it from the abs assembly. Yours will have a plastic cover over the top half. I believe there are six torx screws that are a pain to remove. Be sure you have a magnet on a stick.
