The Road Bitch (GPS)
The more I use it, the more disgusted I am with it. And the more I realize the Garmin on my dash will become a permanent fixture. I've given it every opportunity, but it has consistently failed me. I could understand if I was traversing the country that a selected route my be a few miles off. But on an eleven trip I take frequently, it stinks!
The trip is about eleven miles, maybe four on the interstate. It has been set to fast, short, and mixed, and all nine possible choices are bad. It has never picked the only logical exit, either telling me the one before or after is the best route. After getting off the interstate, I restart nav several times, and it never picks a good route. Only when I turn on to the road that goes to about a mile from my house does it recalculate properly.
Before making that turn, it wants me to go 13 miles from my home (after I turn, I am ~5 miles from home).
All roads are two lane roads, except the interstate, and the road that takes me 5 miles from home. Following the suggested route would not keep me on 4 lane roads, except to taking me farther from home. It actually adds several miles on no-passing roads.

For some reason, I couldn't attach two photos at once from my iPad.
In both sots, you pretty much could connect the start to destination to get both the fastest and shortest route. I'd think the NAVwas defective, but I don't see how it could be.
It just really sucks!

Are you sure you have the dynamic setting to "on" in the criteria? If so it will give you options for which route to take. I have yet to have any issues with my navigation system. I would make sure you have all your settings corret.

I haven't had any issues with my NAV either. The only issue for me is whether to continue Google Maps or let it expire after the 6 month trial. It's a damn cool feature, but not sure it's worth the money.

I also agree with no problems, and google earth IS a damn cool feature. I just passed my 6 months and decided not to renew it. Two weeks later I'm still getting google earth, however a note comes on saying that the maps are not being updated. So far, I don't care.

I know. But the 'coolness' of google earth is the topography, etc. This, for now continues to show. In my '04 Touareg I have 6-CDs. They're now 9 1/2 years old; and, over the years, as we traveled around the USA, ANY changes in the roads didn't show, and on a rare occasion we had to follow road signs (gasp) instead of following the lovely ladies directions. Most of the roads don't change, and if i can get the cool looking google earth maps for the next 9 1/2 years, I'm a happy camper...time will tell.

I guess I'll just have to depend on my Garmin, and watch the pretty images Google Earth creates.
