Default Carbon-Optic package

I was looking at the RS7 order guide and was curious if anyone had any info on the Carbon-Optic package:

High gloss black exterior package Carbon fiber mirror housings
Front spoiler and rear diffusor in carbon fiber Engine cover with carbon fiber inserts

Sounds interesting, esp on Daytona Gray Pearl but I am a bit wary of "high gloss"...

Default RS7 order

On my order it didn't feel right putting carbon fiber accents on the car. I copied the same setup as my S7 in Estoril blue with the only exception that I ordered side view mirrors painted the same exterior color. If you really want the look then go for it. Color combination would be the key.

I just ordered an RS7 and had a really difficult time figuring out what the various options look like. (Never mind what Daytona Gray Matte really looks like!).

Anyway, I think the white car in the attached photo has the Carbon-Optic package. Note the black side mirrors and the black spoiler. I think the red car has the Alu-Optic package with the aluminum mirrors and spoiler (there may also be a difference in how they render 'Quattro' in the front grill, too. I believe the last image with what looks like Daytona Gray Matte paint has neither package (or maybe it's just a photoshop rendering?)

I read somewhere the "QUATTRO" lettering will not be on US spec models.

That doesn't hurt my feelings...

Doesn't hurt my feelings either. I don't like the quattro lettering of the lower portion of the grille. The 2014 PIB says US-spec RS7 won't have it even when an optics package is optioned, and I'm happy about this. I think this has something to do with the taller license plate bracket required for US-spec cars that would partially obscure the quattro lettering, Audi probably figured "why bother?"

I believe the red car has the Alu-optic package, which gives you the aluminum lower intakes and some alu trim around the front and rear spoilers. The Daytona Gray car pictured above has neither the carbon or alu optic, so if you specify nothing this is what you get...

BTW, according to the latest order guide you can order either package with or without the QUATTRO, but only if you don't have a front license holder...

The Alu Optic package is $950, the Carbon Package is $4,000. For the Carbon Package you must also order the Sport Exhaust with Black finishers for another $1,000.

I've been going back and forth on whether to get the Alu Optic Package. It does look nice, even on a dark car.

Agreed on your assessment of the red and white cars. I believe the aluminum optic package only adds aluminum to the front lower air intakes and around the rear diffuser. The mirrors, front spoiler and window trim are already aluminum standard. Probably why the alu package is so much less expensive than the carbon optic package. On a Daytona pearl car, the carbon fiber would blend quite a bit, not sure its worth the money imo.
