I just took delivery of my S7 late Friday, phantom black, 20" wheels, innovation pkg, cold weather, piano black inlays, etc. Though not new to Audi or Audiword forums, this is my first post in S7 forum. I've only had 1 day with this fantastic car, but I have a few questions for you guys.

1) Downshift in Sport mode is really rough. Normal?
2) When parking front end in, how to you manually activate front camera?
3) I've heard ethanol found in even 93 octane premium fuel can cause moisture buildup over time in high performance engines. Anyone here use additives when fueling up? If so, what brand?
4) I plan to tint and get film protectant over front end. Anyone in North Jersey that can recommend a reputable shop?
5) For those of you in snow climates, what are some of your tire/wheel setups? Separate wheels w/ snows or swap tires on/off same wheels?
6) Extended warranty or no?

Thanks in advance. Will post some pics soon.

Answer to #1 and #5.

#1 - The downshifts were quite disturbing after I was driving the car hard in D mode one day and went away after I turned off the ignition. In S mode, the downshifts were less apparent but nonetheless still there especially for someone like myself who had always driven a manual trans. Did not stay in S mode for long before I configured the car for dynamic mode and after a few minutes of driving, the car's adaptation system stopped the sudden downshifts.

#5 - Highly recommend doing the Winter wheel/tire package next Winter for safety (and fun). Change out once the temps get consistently above 40s (just did my swap) and you stretch out the life of your Summer tires.

The harsh downshifts in S mode are due to the blipping of the throttle, which is the design. S mode is designed for aggressive driving, meaning aggressive braking. When braking as you should in S mode, the blipping throttle down through the gears is good. However, when braking slowly, there is too much time when the blipping occurs and the downshift that it jerks. Drive it hard and it feels good.

Separate winter tires/wheels is a must (depending on where you live). I use the factory 19" for winters and factory 20" for summer. Simple.

The personally love the downshift in Sport. Rev matching and the ability to accelerate quickly as you are in the power band is addicting.

I don't have the camera's but would expect hitting the parking assist button above the climate control panel would turn on the camera.

I recommend a good paint correction get done on the car, especially a black one, prior to putting on film. I'm not sure where you are but I used Greg Gellas of Signature Detailing in Randolph to correct and seal my car. I know he has worked with Leeberbs to do tint and film protection right after he has done the paint correction. Leeberbs is in Hillsborough.

Personally I do the separate wheels for the winter and summer set ups. Easier and cheaper in the long run as I don't have to pay to swap the tires off the rims twice a year and I can take the wheels on and off myself.

Enjoy the new car! They are addicting.

I've seen some thread about work the they have done on cars and they seem to be very good. Find threads in the detailing section of this forum.

On my A6, I can manually push a button on the dash ("P") to activate my rear camera and front parking sensors when pulling forward under 5 mph. While I don't have a front camera (no Innovation pkg), I would guess it would activate all of your cameras.

Yes the button above the climate control system marked with a P turns on the camera and parking distance sensors.

Some more questions

1: Can I set car mode to default to Sport mode rather than having to manually change each time I enter the car?

2; Can I set the satellite radio to default to the PRESETS setting rather than have to change it back each time?

3: Can the right/left steering wheel button be customized to change radio stations ?

4: Can the navigation screen which asks if you want to set up a paid data connection be skipped?

Hi there-

Could you send us an email to SXM_Help@siriusxm.com, with your contact information, make and model of your vehicle, and we can help with your presets.

Thanks,

[I have an audi 2013 S7 with the Bang-Olfson sound upgrade. In addition to the presets issue I have another question

I have been a Sirius subscriber for many years. Its what I listen to most while driving. Sound is very important to me , so I paid $5-6 thousand extra for the BO sound upgrade. When listening to my Iphone through the media side of the system the sound is nothing short of incredible. The best I’ve had in any of my vehicles.

The problem is that the Sirius music is not nearly as good. In fact, much of the music becomes difficult to listen to. To me it sounds like a real fault in the midrange, but I’m not entirely sure.
Do you think this is a problem with the equipment or is the advanced sound system exposing the weakness of satellite radio???

Thanks

It's not the equipment, it's Sirius. I have the B&O in my S7 (had the Bose in my A7) and the sound when using the Bluetooth connection on my iPhone is absolutely extraordinary. The Sirius stations sound like a muddied, muted mess by comparison. With Pandora on my iPhone, there is really no need for a Sirius subscription.
