Q7 2017 Navigation issue on countdown to next turn
Something I noticed on my 2017 Prestige with driver assistance when using Navigation is that the countdown to next turn when under 10 miles to go doesn't work the way I would expect compared to my 2010 Q5 I just traded in. Normally when remaining distance is under 10 miles it should switch to showing tenths of a mile, as in 4.7 miles to next turn. The Q7 just shows 9.0 then after going a mile 8.0, 7.0, etc. Around 2.5 miles it may show 2 1/2, or 3/4 which seem random or me. It seems like a software bug or they were halfway between decimals and fractions and hadn't quite finished the program.
I talked to Audi technical support yesterday and they didn't have any answer except to wait for a software update. OK, I know this is a minor issue but it annoys me a lot, especially since I had it for over six years in my Q5 working fine.
Anyone out there having similar issue? Is my car acting different or do they all do that?
Overall I am in love with this car. Would have been happier without the third row and a mini spare instead of run flats. But this was the best option available.

So I have studied how it is working more closely and this is what it does. With less than 10 miles to go for next turn it will show 9.0, 8.0, 7.0,....3.0, 2 1/2, 2.0, 1 1/2, 1.0, 3/4, 1/2, 1/4. It NEVER shows anything in tenths of a mile even though it has the decimal place there. My 2010 Q5 showed the countdown in tenths of a mile. I liked that better. And the Audi website shows it using tenths as in this photo from the configuration showing 1.8 mi on the HUD.
I have only driven my car 500 miles so I guess I will have to get used to it. But would love to hear from anyone who has different results. Hoping software update can fix this in future.

Interesting. Will have to check that as well. I have just been using the blue vertical bar countdown graph in the heads up display and on the virtual cockpit screen. Never had that on the old Q7 and love that feature so far.

Yes. But the photo I posted is from the Audi web site when you go through the Build your own configuration process. My actual car never shows the miles like that. That is my point. The 2010 Q5 showed the countdown in 10ths of a mile (although it did not have a HUD). And the current build screen for Audi 2017 Q7 shows it like that, but that is t how my car really works. And the behavior on my Q7 is the same for the HUD, Virtual cockpit and MMI display. I just don't like the lack of detail and switching to fractions. Again, I will get used to it eventually but I will never be happy about it.

Just an update after having the car for five weeks and driving 1700 miles. I still wish the Q7 would countdown in tenths of a mile like my Q5 did. But I have gotten used to the Q7 only giving me 3.0, 2 1/2, 2.0, 1 1/2, 1.0, 3/4, 1/2, 1/4. Also have observed that the announcement "Prepare to turn xxx" always comes at the two mile mark before the next turn. Dealer checked and there is no software update yet for the Q7 of any sort.
I would still be interested in hearing from anyone whose Q7 behaves differently. Possible that different countries are getting different software.

I have been driving the audi q7 2017 for about 1000 miles now and noticed that the vertical countdown bar is only displayed in the virtual cockpit and not on the MMI screen in the center. Is this how it operates? Why would they not display the vertical countdown bar on the large screen?
