Default Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+

Good morning,

I'm looking at new tires for the SQ5... 255/45/20.

I'm currently running the Conti DWS 06 and I'm considering the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ this time around...

Anybody have experience with this one?

The Conti's have been fine...although pretty noisy; but they have gotten me through the light/medium snow and rain very comfortably.

I just thought I'd give the fat Michelin Man a chance.

Anybody running them?

Put Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on my infiniti around 2011/12. I'll never get those again.

put the Put Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on

check tirerack.com for reviews. they are all user ratings and show you how many miles were used for each tire review. look for reviews with more 500,000 miles of usage ( note this is the sumof all users and not how long the tire lasts)

the CONTI are the worst i ever had!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
they came on my BMW 530i and lasted less than 1 year.
tirerack users rated them 47/49

Default Just put them on my 2012 Q5 S-line

I have about 500 miles on the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 plus tires installed a few weeks ago. Replaced the 20" Goodyear Excellence tires that it came with. I live in North FL but decide on a all season tire since I make a number of trips to TN mountains during the winter. I am very happy with the performance so far and haven't noticed or been annoyed by "road noise".

?

Fact check: Michelin A/S's in 2011 were a different tire. I owned them in that era and would not use in any ice/snow conditions. But the 3+'s are a generation later outright, and then tweaked toward cold/snow relative to the non-Plus version. Tire Rack page I look at says DWS 06 comes in 4th of 27 in the category. https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...Contact+DWS+06 AS3+ says #1 of 27 in category. https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...-Speed+Rated%2

To OP, the DWS06 is tuned a little more toward performance, after older DWS was critiqued as somewhat sloppy for handling. Michelin 3+ actually was cutting more the other way--better wet/snow/ice performance relative to 3 A/S. TireRack write ups should reflect some of that. I found the earlier versions of the Michelin A/S were strong for performance (close to a summer actually), but indeed not ready for prime time with snow/ice. Thus the change they made with 3+ is welcome. I am running DWS06's on D4 S8 so far for a cross over seasonal fitment to light winter, where there is no exact Michelin 3+ fitment for the D4. Quiet so far, but tires are young and it is a quieter car at speed than the Q5. Made the grade for my winter use too. I got the AS 3+'s for the D3 for its most recent set when dedicated winters wore out and trips to Tahoe w/ that car became much less common. If our Q5 were due to tires, I could see getting either one of them. The Q5 OE summers (Bridgestone's) even with lots of life left are not the best ride or noise wise for me in 20's, and the vehicle doesn't have the performance potential of a sports sedan. Ride height and sway are more the limiting factors to me with Q5 handling than tires anyway.

Mine were noisy and lacked traction in dry weather. They were ok in rain. Switched to the Firehawk Indy 500 and it was like night and day. Going from all season to summer I'm sure had something to do with it. I won't use all season tires anymore.

Well, I bought them today...first impressions are that they are quieter than the Conti's.
I'll put on some highway miles tomorrow, and post results.

Enjoy! I sure hear mixed results about the Conti's.
