No brake fluid change unless explicitly requested?
The q5 just returned from the 25k service. Since the vehicle is now 2.5 years old, I just assumed they would do brake fluid change since it's supposed to be done every 2 years, regardless of miles, and we have Audi Care. However, when I made the appointment, I just asked for the 25k service. I did not think to specifically ask for brake fluid change as well. I guess I should have because the dealer did not do it. Sigh...

They are supposed to remind you or add it automatically if the car is due for one. It is a separate item on the work order. I actually have to actively decline it on my RS5, because I use aftermarket race fluid and flush every year. I almost forgot during the last service, but I realized it when I got home and texted my SA who promptly removed it from the work order. Sounds like your shop needs improvement.

Yep, and bluntly typical sloppy dealer service. I have run into same thing and so now have it right on my checklist to go over every time it is due to avoid any confusion or second time return trips. I hand them the service book for stamping as well.
For those with 2.0T's, also remind them at 35K to clean the one off snow/debris filter in the intake. Got mine back at 35K and it had the same old bugs and plant debris in it as before. Also had to very specifically remind them the Hybrid has the one off ATF fluid change at 35K, unique among any Audi with the ZF 8 speed AT.

AudiCare calls for a fluid change every 2 years, last time I looked. Audi claims the fluid SHOULD be changed every two years, last time I heard.
In plain fact, unless Audi is using really crap fluid, the fluid should be TESTED every year or two, depending on local conditions. This is either a litmus paper type strip, or a quick dab with a "pen", and it says good/nogood. Then you either leave it for a year, or change it.
If the dealer failed to perform part of the prepaid service, he's cheating Audi because he probably gets paid for an hour of book time plus the fluids. And he's cheating you. "I forgot" is no excuse, they know damned well what is in the prepaid scheduled maintenance.
Bring it back, tell 'em you want an R8 for the loaner car this time.

Yeah, it's just that bringing it back is a major hassle. This will need to wait until my next visit... maybe along with the fuel pump flange recall, whenever they decide they're ready to perform it.

As long as they've acknowledged that they're on the "hook" for the brake fluid flush! You're good for a long while before your fluid becomes a negative player in your braking system. If they delay the flush then good, just pushes out the next time it needs doing, that's assuming you plan on keeping your Q5 for a while, I suspect you will, seeing that you've got a 530 Mt.and you've got a 3.0L-T. Obviously a car guy !

A good dealer performs the brake fluid flush service without asking every two years if you have Audicare.
You should not have to ask ever. One would think they would do it from a risk management standpoint especially since it's already paid for.

FWIW, you know, you can always drop $25 on Amazon and forever after be able to just "stick a pen" in the brake reservoir and find out if it really needs changing. If it doesn't need changing now...you know, no rush to do it, as long as the dealer doesn't forget he owes you one.
And of course, his concierge service should drop off an R8 loaner when they pick up your car.(VBG)

Pretty far from where the brake fluid is actually cooked due to overheated brakes. You could have perfect brake fluid in the reservoir and terribly degraded brake fluid in you pistons and nearby lines. Just saying.
