Default Ground Clearance Test Results

One of the reasons I purchased a 2018 Q7 was for the ground clearance. I occasionally go off-road and feel better knowing I can raise the car frame a little to avoid obstacles. I made a video of my “unscientific” test. Essentially when put in the Offroad mode, the car raises 2.25 inches above the Comfort mode or 2.75 inches above the Sport mode. FMMV

Thanks for sharing. It was interesting to see the tire rotating forward, more so when the rear of the vehicle was adjusting. Per the brochure below your numbers are pretty accurate.

Trevor,

It never occurred to me to look in the manual for the ground clearance specs, it would have saved me a lot of time, but I learned a lot and it was kind of neat to watch.

I found those in the brochure, but I did find the actual clearance maximum in the manual.

Trevor,

You are correct, my test really was about "movement" of the car frame rather than ground clearance. Your information is more useful. Once again, I should have looked in the manual.

Thanks,
Rich

I put the video back online, link is below. I didn't think the video was that good and found that most of the information I wanted was in the manual. I'll keep the link active for a week which should give you time to video.

Since you are planning on taking down the video at some point, here's a screenshot of the bottom line for future reference for those checking out this thread:

Thanks for doing that testing.
