Default KBB Pricing

What kind of crap is this KBB pricing dealers are using now? My Dealer in NC even has a large KBB banner in their show room. They say they will shoot me a price just below KBB price (which we can all look up by zip code). Shoots me a price of 4.8% of MSRP. Salesman says they report their sales to KBB (or some service that KBB uses...true care...whatever). It's almost like a huge price collusion tool for the dealers. As long as they all stay disciplined in the area, they are able to keep the KBB price elevated. I don't want an SQ5 so bad that I'm going to endure bogus sales process. Guess my local dealer is going to force me to look around for someone that's willing to sell me one at the prices I'm seeing on this forum.

So they're trying to charge 4.8% over MSRP? I don't know anyone who paid MSRP let alone more than that. I would go elsewhere in a hurry.

That's pretty good, I got 6% myself which is acceptable. Hell, any amount more than 4% is okay frankly depending on what model

I've found KBB discount to be a good place to start negotiating discounts from even with my latest 2018 Q5 order, especially when you beginning your search for a specific model but you are not sure how low dealers are going to go. For high demand models, I've found that dealers can be hesitant to be the first to offer a discount, but with a KBB dealer, you can begin starting negotiations with the dealers from that discounted price.

For a lot of customers that are afraid of buying a car it can be a relief to see a dealer offer guaranteed KBB pricing.
